EU PV SEC Sets New Standards by Deepening its Approaching the PV Field and Connecting Business Together

With the official Closing Session, the 24th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition in Hamburg (24th EU PVSEC) ended on Friday after five very busy days. Until Thursday, 943 international manufacturers, suppliers and service providers covering every aspect of photovoltaics took part as exhibitors, attracting over 40,000 visitors. The share of international visitors amounted to more than 50%.

This included many visitors from Israel that came to learn and make new business connections. Our delegation from Quantum Business Group interacted with the conference speakers, presenters and exhibitors. QBG delegation focused primarily on finding new technologies aimed at efficiency of the PV systems, innovative products and know-how experience in order to bring it to Israeli business community. As well the delegation members used this unique opportunity to spread the objective information about the emerging Israeli PV market that has great potential.

Last but not least, our delegates presented and invited international PV industry members to visit and participate in The Eilat-Eilot Renewable International Energy Conference as well as exhibit at premier EnergyTech Exhibition.

Orit (Svetlana) Bulshtein, Quantum Business Group Business Relations director shares her experience: “Honestly, the exhibition was almost overwhelming. The size of the event, the endless variety of products, innovations and opportunities was hard to fathom at first. But then I began thinking of the Israeli market and what Israel can contribute and can gain to and from the industry. The PV market is a young and interesting field, if before the Hamburg Exhibition it was only business, now it is almost a mission to bring it to reality and into existence in Israel.”

During the 24th EU PVSEC, many new trends and developments in photovoltaics were presented and up for discussion. Two Israeli companies, SolarEdge and CoreFlow, presented its innovative products.

SolarEdge, the Israeli pride, which is recognized by the Guardian and Cleantech Group as one of the 100 World’s Most Promising Clean Technology Companies, continued to "conquer" the minds and hearts of the global PV community. SolarEdge provides groundbreaking distributed Power harvesting and monitoring systems for Photovoltaics. Our solution maximizes power generation of residential and large-scale PV sites, while reducing costs and complexities.

Targeting module manufacturers, integrators and installers and allowing them to benefit from constraint-free site design, full site space utilization, reduced installation time and maintenance cost, module-level monitoring, improved safety and theft prevention (to name a few advantages), Solar Edges makes giant steps in its business development.

Another Israeli enterprise, CoreFlow Ltd., a leading provider of flotation solutions for precision manufacturing environments based in Yoqneam, introduced its SingFlow, a field-tested wafer singulation system. SingFlow is the first automatic system that successfully deals with the accurate separation of wafers and thus solves one of the critical steps in the crystalline PV manufacturing process.

Eyal Spielberg, CEO at CoreFlow, stated: "SingFlow has been field-tested at several customer sites in Germany , and a Beta system will be tested during Q4 2009. First system shipments are expected for early 2010. The test results at our customer sites have been very promising, and we expect this system to solve one of the more critical problems the industry is facing. For CoreFlow it means a real breakthrough."

Among the many topics covered at the 24th EU PV SEC, the debate centred on new cell concepts for the future, increased automation in production, and standardisation. New manufacturing processes and production machinery for silicon and thin-film technology were showcased on the 65,000 sqm exhibition area. Numerous exhibitors even displayed entire production lines, some of them operating. Cutting-edge measurement and control equipment for quality assurance in cell manufacturing was also unveiled. Production samples of large panels of glass with a photovoltaic finish illustrated the rapid advances being made in the field of thin-film solar technology. The 24th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition is the largest trade show in the photovoltaics industry, and also the one with the highest number of operational exhibits.

The international scientific Conference of the 24th EU PVSEC, which ran from September 21 to 25, 2009, attracted 4295 delegates. A broad spectrum of topics spanning every area of photovoltaics was on offer on each of the conference's five days.

Vladimir Budyansky, Quantum Business Group CEO comments his visit: “The success of the Hamburg Conference and Exhibition proves that this is the market of the future years. As for the organization of the event, the team deserves the highest acknowledgements. As for the PV industry, there is a strong interest from the side of the investors to the new markets, like Bulgaria, France, Turkey, Ukraine and Israel. Therefore, the industry turns to operate and enter these business opportunities.

It will be a crying shame if Israel would be left behind and out of the international scene of this inspiring industry. Israel has much to offer to the industry. The upcoming large scale tariff, Israeli technological advances, climate and comfortable investment conditions render it to be a vital part of the industry. To promote this, we have instigated the production of EnergyTech that will assist in introducing and promoting Israel as the key player it can and should be to this industry, much the same as it is in the Water Technologies and High-Tech industry.”
